As a member of Accuro, you are eligible for certain discounts if you meet the appropriate criteria. Most of our discounts are applied automatically. However, some require you to provide certain information to us in order for them to be applied. (e.g.: Non-Smoker and Healthy Weight Discounts).
Discounts that have been applied to the sum payable for your policy will be listed on the policy renewal notice, which is provided one month prior to your anniversary.
However, we will give you at least 21 days’ notice in advance of any changes which affect the sum you pay us.
Not all discounts are available on all products and plans. Please see further information below.

Eligibility for discounts by product
Not all discounts are available on all products and plans. You can download a copy of the guide to eligibility using the link below.
Example of discount calculations:
Discounts are applied as a sequential deduction from the Gross Premium. The Net Premium is what is payable by the member.
Accuro applies the discounts by starting with the Gross Premium and on a sequential basis, multiplying premium by the discount rate, with the premium used being based on the balance from the prior calculation. This results in a Net Premium payable by the member.
An example of how this works is:
Example A
Gross Premium | $100 | |
Less Discounts: | ||
Annual payment discount (5%) | $5 | $95 |
Non-smokers discount (10%) | $9.50 | $85.50 |
Healthy weight discount (5%) | $4.28 | $81.23 |
Direct Debit discount (2%) | $1.62 | $79.60 |
Net Premium | $79.60 |
It does not matter in which order the discounts are shown or applied in the calculation of the Net Premium payable by you – the formula used results in the same Net Premium figure (Example B).
Example B
Gross Premium | $100 | |
Less Discounts: | ||
Direct Debit discount (2%) | $2 | $98.00 |
Healthy weight discount (5%) | $4.90 | $93.10 |
Annual payment discount (5%) | $4.66 | $88.44 |
Non-smoker discount (10%) | $8.84 | $79.60 |
Net Premium | $79.60 |
If a discount is removed, for example a member is no longer eligible for the non–smoker discount so that discount is removed, then the remaining discounts are re-calculated.
